so forgive me if this sounds a bit out of my character, because it will sound that way to
a lot of you (and me) that know me well, but here goes. I just wanted to share something with you that I don't share that often, if at all, to anyone. I am
SOOOO saddened by the passing of our Prophet, President Gordon B.
Hinckley and I have been feeling so upset by the fact that I didn't outwardly express my love for this man to my family, my friends and more importantly people that I came into contact with that I could have shared a wonderful message with - and chose not to. As well as I have not been so good to share other thoughts/feelings I have about...well
a lot of things. So, a little too late now, but here goes. I KNOW that President
Hinckley was/is a true Prophet of our Lord and Savior. I KNOW that he has touched my life in such a way that will never go away. I
truly love this man and one of the many reasons that I love him is because he never made you feel inadequate. He always made you feel you were "
ok" no matter where you were in your life - what race or religion you were - he always had a smile and a wonderful word/message. You always knew that as long as you were trying to do better each and every day you were doing good and if you weren't that was "
ok" too. He was the most accepting, loving, caring, non-judgemental person I ever "knew" and every time I heard him speak - I ALWAYS came away feeling great, with a smile on my face (who are we kidding he was hysterical!). Today, I ask myself why didn't I put myself into more situations/opportunities to hear him more often???? I guess that's another thing to add to my "to do" list (wow, that's getting big). I will miss you "big" guy and I thank you for it all!! :)
Ok, why stop there - I think I need to say a few more things. I KNOW that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints IS a true church. I KNOW the power of the Priesthood and the wonderful blessings that can come from having the Priesthood in my life. I KNOW (although sometimes tough to remember) that my Heavenly Father loves me and KNOWS me individually and KNOWS my heart-aches and is with me in my darkest hours. Again, something really hard to remember sometimes, but deep down I KNOW this to be true. I am grateful to the members of my ward, who continue to not "leave" me behind - who continue to visit me and send me cards in the mail, who bring me new manuals, who seem to know when I need a pick me up and who haven't given up on me when I have given them every reason in the world to give up - I am not such a great pupil!! I am grateful to the many, many people in my life that love and accept me for who I am and the tiny little steps of progress I TRY to make each day. I am grateful to my grandma - I don't know that I told her that very often - but she was more than a grandmother she was also a parent and became my mom's "partner", if you will, after my mom's divorce and the 3 of us were still so young. If it weren't for my grandmother, I am not sure where we would all be in regards to the
LDS church - she was the stepping stone to it all and I love her more than I ever expressed while she was alive. I am grateful to my mother who has been there for me through everything and I can ALWAYS depend on her. She may not agree, but she has done some AMAZING things with her life and knowing where we came from, the situation we started in, statistically we should have NEVER made it - and we did because of her. My mom will say that we "made it" because of grandma, but that just isn't true - once again, I love my mom
SOOOOO much and I don't know what I would do without her. I am so grateful for my sister Tina. She is an amazing person and has done some amazing things with her life and she too has been able to rise above circumstances and situations that statistics show she shouldn't have - she has been there for me in so many ways and I don't know where I would be without her in my life. I am so grateful for my brother Ron and his wife Cindy. Once again, I am not sure where I would be without them - and I shutter at the thought. They too have been there for me on so many levels and have done so many things for me. I hope that each of these people know how much I love them, because I am sure I have neglected to share it. They are not just my family but my friends as well!!! I am so appreciative and grateful to Megan - my monkey - gosh I can't even begin to put all of those thoughts into writing,
MNVL where would I be without you!?!
JaNell, Vicki, Ash, Jen etc. I hope that all of you know how much I love and care about you and how each of you have touched my life. I hope/know that all of you know what you mean to me! Thank you! Lissa - wow, where do I begin - I can't there is too much, Thank you for it all! I am so grateful for ALL of my extended family: Aunt Theresa, Uncle Rick, Aunt Cynthia, Aunt Pat, Uncle Phil and their individual families - all of them have have done
SOOOO many wonderful things for me and my family that I can't even begin to list them all - it's everything you can imagine and more!! Once again, I hope each of you know how you have touched my life and that I am
truly blessed to have you not only as family members but so much more - Thank you!! I am grateful for Mario's family - ALL of them and how awesome they are and how they accepted me from day one and have loved me like their own. I
appreciate them as family but the friendships I have gained being a part of this wonderful family. I know that I have a second mom with my wonderful mother-in-law and I love her dearly. I know I am leaving people out and it is by no means intentional - please know that. I guess that is the problem with naming-names. Just know that just because your name is not written in this particular blog that you ARE written permanently in my heart and mind and I love each and everyone of you for who you are and what you have done for me. To all of the above, I hope someday I can "return the favor"!!! :)
I am so grateful for my husband, Mario. we have been together for a long - long time and been through
SOOOOO many horrible, heart-wrenching, devastating, incredible, wonderful, amazing things and I wouldn't trade any of it. If I had to do it all over again, it would be with you. I am a stronger person because of what we have accomplished together and it brings us closer each time. I love you with all my heart! Last but certainly not least, Dominic. My little
moushka cake, angel boy. I will sum it up by saying that I can not imagine my life without him in it and I don't want to. It took
SOOO long and it was
SOOOO awful/painful - expensive for him to get here, but he made up for it the minute they placed him in my arms and he opened his little eyes. I was done - he had me at "hello"!!!! :) Seriously, he has made every single horrible, heart-wrenching, devastating, incredible, wonderful, amazing thing absolutely 100% worth it. He is my life - I love him more than words can express.
Ok, there you go - this is a HUGE post (sorry) but I just felt that I really needed to do this. I haven't expressed these feelings in a long time, if ever, and I feel much better having done so. I don't know maybe some of this can be considered a "testimony." I don't know, do I have one of those????
